Dear Cowern Families & Friends,

Great Parents + Great Kids + Great Teachers = Cowern Elementary! With Thanksgiving coming up next week, I would like to extend a special thank you to all of you. Our school is awesome because of your willingness to get involved with your child’s learning. Thank you also to our Parent Teacher Group and to our many volunteers - whether you volunteer weekly, monthly, or once a year, we sincerely appreciate your service. You truly do make our school special!

Parents + Kids + Teachers + Books + Fun = Successful Literacy Night! I would like to thank all of you who joined us last Thursday evening for a fun-filled literacy night event. It was absolutely wonderful to see the turn-out of parents and children in attendance. As a parent, I hope that you walked away with a better understanding of how to help your child pick out Just Right Books at their reading level, how to engage your child in conversation about what they are reading, the importance of reading with your child, and just how much fun literacy can be! We hope to hold more family evenings in the future with each event having a different focus.

Parents + Kids + Teachers + Ice Cream + Fun = Successful HomeTown Creamery Night! Thanks to all of you who showed up for our fun-filled Beach Party at HomeTown Creamery on Tuesday evening. Our PTG

once again stirred up a crazy theme to get us to eat ice cream! Congratulations to Mrs. Aase who won the beachwear contest with the most student votes, fourth grader Garrett Xiong for guessing the correct number of shells, and first grader Kaiden Gooch for winning an ice cream pie!

Parents + Kids + Teachers + Bookstore + Fun = Barnes & Noble Book Fair! Don’t forget that this coming Saturday, November 21^st, is Cowern’s first ever Barnes & Nobel event at Maplewood Mall. Events will be going on all day (9 a.m.- 9 p.m.) throughout the store. Please stop by and join in the fun.
